Ayisha Aminu, a teenager and beneficiary of the Captain One Golf Society’s kids project, has been nominated for the Discovery of the Year Award at the 49th edition of the SWAG Awards.
The SWAG Awards, organised by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, is the longest-running award scheme in the country that honours sporting excellence.
Ayisha, an affiliate of the Royal Golf Club, Kumasi, has seen a steady rise in her golfing journey under the tutelage of pro golfer Yaw Barima.
She is from the Safe-Child Advocacy (SCA), formerly known as the Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi Street Children Project (SCP), a charity, non-profit, and non-governmental organisation (NGO) concerned with the plight of children, youth, and women in street and other vulnerable situations.
Ayisha had an exceptional season with her first competition win in January during the Captain One Golf Society kids’ tournament at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi and later won the Latex Foam monthly medal held at the same venue.
She then travelled to Nsuta to win the PanAfrican Komatsu Tournament, then the 2024 Obuasi Open Championship held at the Obuasi Golf Club.
She continued her winning spree at the Tafo Golf Club when she won the 2024 Ohum Tournament under the patronage of Osagyefo Amoatai Ofori Panin, the chief of Akyem Abuakwa.
She ended the season with a win, the December monthly medal at the Royal Golf Club.
