Nii Otoo Larkyne Nominated for Referee of the Year at 49th SWAG Awards

Ghanaian Armwrestling referee Nii Otoo Larkyne, affectionately known as “Super,” has been nominated for the prestigious Referee of the Year award at the upcoming 49th SWAG Awards.

The ceremony, scheduled to take place on January 24, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre, will recognise Larkyne’s outstanding contributions to the world of sports officiating.

Larkyne has had an impressive year, officiating a total of 128 games across three major international competitions. He took charge of 48 games at the 13th African Games held in Accra, showcasing his expertise and professionalism on the continent’s biggest stage.

Additionally, Larkyne travelled to Moldova to officiate 54 games at the World Armwrestling Championships, further solidifying his reputation as a top-notch referee. Closer to home, he officiated 26 games at the Friday Night Armwrestling Championship held in Teshie, Accra.

Larkyne’s nomination for Referee of the Year is evidence of his diligence, devotion, and pursuit of greatness in sports officiating. The 49th SWAG Awards will provide a fitting platform to recognise his achievements and celebrate his contributions to Ghanaian sports.

The SWAG Awards, organised by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, aim to honour and recognise outstanding sports personalities, teams, and officials who have made significant contributions to Ghanaian sports.
