The Black Stars shared the spoils with Angola in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, following a 1-1 draw. Jordan Ayew’s spectacular 40-yard free-kick in the 19th minute gave Ghana the lead, but Zini Cabaca’s 63rd-minute equalizer denied them victory.

Ghana’s coach, Otto Addo, fielded a youthful squad, with Razak Simpson, Gideon Mensah, Alidu Seidu, and Kingsley Schindler forming the backline. Ibrahim Sulemana, Elisha Owusu, and Michael Baidoo marshaled the midfield, while Mohammed Kudus, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Jordan Ayew led the attack.

The Black Stars dominated the early stages but conceded a penalty in the 27th minute after Gideon Mensah fouled Angola’s Zito Luvumbo. However, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen saved M’Bala Nzola’s spot-kick to preserve Ghana’s 1-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Ebenezer Annan replaced Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Ghana maintained their shape to keep Angola at bay. Nevertheless, substitute Zini Cabaca headed home Joao Felicio Milson’s cross in the 63rd minute to level the score.

Angola pushed for a winner, but Abdul Manaf made crucial saves to deny them. Ghana introduced Osman Bukari and Ernest Nuamah for Kingsley Schindler and Mohammed Kudus, seeking to unlock Angola’s defense. Ransford Yeboah Konigsdoffer and Mohammed Kudus came close to scoring, but the match ended 1-1.

The draw leaves Ghana at the bottom of Group F with 3 points ahead of their final match against Niger on Monday, November 18, 2024.
