The Director of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, Miss Rafatu Inusah, has urged the Ghanaian government to support the Rugby women’s 7s team as they prepare for the upcoming Rugby Africa Women’s 7s championship. The tournament will take place at the University of Ghana Rugby Stadium from November 9 to 10, 2024.

“All teams participating in the competition are ready, and it’s going to be extremely competitive,” Inusah said. “Three teams will advance to the next level, while three or four teams will be relegated. We’re counting on the Ghanaian government’s support and hope that all Ghanaians will rally behind us with high morale. Our team promises to give their best for Mother Ghana.”

Inusah emphasised the competitiveness of the tournament, citing the participation of top-ranked rugby nations like South Africa, Kenya, Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, and Zambia. “In our group, we’re up against Kenya, Madagascar, and Mauritius, making it challenging competition for all countries,” she added.

The tournament’s stakes are high, with four teams facing relegation based on Rugby Africa’s preparations for next year. Inusah concluded, “It’s a tough competition, but we’re preparing diligently. We pray that the government will swiftly support our team so they can perform at their best and make Ghana proud.”
