Ghana’s Baba Yara Stadium Stripped of CAF Approval Due to Technical Issues

Most Popular

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has withdrawn its approval for the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Ghana, due to technical infractions, including an unsuitable playing field.

This means that there’s currently no stadium in Ghana fit to host an international CAF or FIFA match in that category. CAF has further made recommendations that need fixing before the next inspection date.

If the pitch doesn’t pass approval, Ghana’s game against Sudan on October 11 will be moved to a neutral African country.

The NSA will require around $100,000 to fix the current pitch in the interim before a more modern one may be installed permanently.
