Ghana is prepared to leave its mark at the 45th World Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary. The National Chess Team, affectionately known as the Golden Knights, will be representing the country in both the Open and Women’s categories from September 10-23, 2024.
The Women’s Team boasts a talented lineup, comprising Gertrude Banini, WCM Maud Benson, WCM Tobi Felix, Dotse Dzidzor Esi, and Hephzibah Awura-Ama Manubea Tandoh. These skilled players are poised to take on the world’s best and make Ghana proud.
The Open Team, led by Captain Edward Sosu, features a mix of seasoned veterans and rising stars. FM John Kojo Hasford, IM Francis Anquandah, Formevor Cephas Clinton, Bernard Anhwere, and Daniel Frempong-Smart form a formidable squad, ready to take on the giants of chess.
With a healthy blend of experience and youth, the Golden Knights are confident of shining bright in this year’s competition. The 45th World Chess Olympiad promises to be an exciting showcase of strategic brilliance, and Ghana’s Golden Knights are ready to make their mark.
