Ghana’s 4x100m men’s relay team clinched Gold in the 23rd African Athletics Championships in Douala, Cameroon, defeating Nigeria in the final.
Ghana’s quartet dominated their Nigerian rivals to win Ghana’s second Gold medal in the African Athletics championships, with Fuseini Ibrahim, Isaac Botsio, Edwin Gadayi, and Abdul Rasheed Saminu outpacing Kayinsola Ajayi, Usheoritse Itserkiri, Alaba Akintola, and Godson Brume.
“Ghana took the gold with a time of 38.6s, Nigeria claimed silver with 38.84s, and the Ivory Coast secured bronze with 39.77s.
The Nigerian female quartet, featuring Justina Eyakpobeyan, Tima Godbless, Olayinka Oladide, and Tobi Amusan, successfully defended their gold medals, beating Ghana and Liberia. This victory extends their unbeaten streak in the 4x100m relay at the African Athletics Championships since 2018.
