Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has denied reports that he has resigned, insisting a recent social media post was only meant as a message of gratitude to Ghanaians.

The Portuguese tactician broke his silence in a direct conversation with a football fan from the United States, stating: “I’ve not resigned. I was just sending my message of gratitude.”
“I’m still the coach of the Black Stars, and I haven’t resigned!” Queiroz added.
The speculation erupted after Queiroz posted a heartfelt message on his official Instagram account following Ghana’s painful 1-0 round-of-32 elimination to Colombia at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup. In the post, the 73-year-old thanked the Ghanaian public, his players, and the football administration for their support during the team’s brief campaign. Several local and international media outlets misinterpreted the reflective note as a formal farewell from his role as Black Stars head coach.
However, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United manager firmly debunked the claims, stressing that no official resignation has been submitted to the Ghana Football Association.
Queiroz remains bound by his four-month short-term contract signed in April to oversee the team throughout the World Cup cycle. The deal is expected to run until the official technical review process concludes later this month.
With the tournament still ongoing and a review pending, the focus now shifts to the GFA’s assessment of Ghana’s World Cup performance and the future direction of the Black Stars.
