Ghanaian karatekas have brought pride to the nation by winning two silver and one bronze medal at the recently concluded West Africa Shotokan Karate Championship in Togo.
The one-day event, held on Sunday, December 23, 2025, saw seven nations compete, including Togo, Nigeria, Ghana, Niger, Benin, Cote D’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso.
Edmund Asante, Kpoti Jacobs, and Joseph Botchway secured silver medals in the male individual Kata senior’s category, while Botchway also took bronze in the male individual kumite and male individual Kata juniors.
Asante’s silver medal in the Kata category highlights his skill and commitment to karate, marking a significant achievement. Botchway’s kumite performance showcases his strength and agility, cementing his reputation as a strong competitor. These athletes have demonstrated their prowess, establishing themselves as forces to be reckoned with in the region.
The Ghana Karate-Do Federation, led by Nathaniel Johnson, is working tirelessly to promote the sport and make Ghana a force to be reckoned with in African karate.
