Ghana Athletics is proud to announce that Team Ghana will be participating in the prestigious 2025 Athletics Relay Championship. The event is scheduled to take place at the Guangdong Olympic Stadium in Guangzhou, China, from May 10 to 11, 2025.
The team comprises five talented athletes: Joseph Paul Amoah, Sean Naa Awere Kweku Safo Antwi, Ibrahim Fuseini, Barnabas Aggerh, and Mustapha Alufar Bokpin. They will compete in the 4x100m relay event, leveraging their exceptional skills and recent performances.
The athletes were selected based on their outstanding achievements, particularly during the African Games, where Joseph Paul Amoah made history by winning a gold medal in the 200m sprint, becoming the first Ghanaian to achieve this feat. Additionally, Mustapha, Fuseini, Sean, and Aggerh have consistently delivered impressive performances in recent championships, showcasing their dedication and talent.
Under the guidance of Coach George Sanford Pincock, who brings extensive experience and expertise, the team is poised for a competitive showing at the World Relays. This event is a crucial qualification pathway for the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo, Japan, where the top 14 teams in each relay event will secure automatic qualification.
With 734 athletes from 43 countries competing for a coveted spot, Ghana’s participation in the Guangzhou Relays demonstrates the country’s commitment to maintaining a strong presence in global sprint events, reflecting their current ranking by World Athletics.
