The 2025 West Africa Bodybuilding Championship is gearing up for a thrilling display of strength and athleticism, with over 45 athletes from 10 countries converging on Accra. The competition, scheduled for April 25-28 at the Bukom Boxing Arena, promises to be a spectacle of physical prowess and regional unity.
The participating countries include Nigeria, Niger, Togo, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, and DR Congo. According to Mr. Abdul Hayye Yartey, President of the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA), the event has experienced remarkable growth since its inception in 2022.
“This year’s competition is particularly significant, as it will be the second Bodybuilding Championship in Africa to offer a Pro Card event,” Mr. Yartey stated. “We’re excited to see the talents of these athletes shine on the international stage.
“In a bid to promote fitness and wellness, the GBFA will also organize an Aerobics Championship as a curtain raiser for the main event. The athletes are expected to arrive in Ghana on April 24, 2025.
Mr. Yartey expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Corporate Ghana for their support and urged Ghanaians to rally behind the team. With its growing popularity and competitive spirit, the West Africa Bodybuilding Championship is set to become a premier event in African sports.
