As President of the Ghana Cycling Federation and current Secretary General of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC)/Commonwealth Games Association (CGA), I am deeply invested in the future of our organisation and the advancement of sports development. Today, I am honoured to formally endorse Lawyer Richard Akpokavie for the position of President.
With his exceptional leadership, I am confident that Akpokavie will propel us toward a new era of progress and integrity. His 8-year tenure as Secretary General up to 2021 has equipped him with a deep understanding of administrative frameworks, transparency, accountability, and good governance.
Akpokavie’s experience and expertise make him uniquely positioned to address the challenges our organisation faces. He recognises that sustainable growth requires empowering institutions, capacity building, ensuring ethical practices, and prioritising long-term strategies.
As someone who intends to seek re-election as Secretary General, I am eager to collaborate with Akpokavie to translate his presidential agenda into actionable outcomes. Our aligned priorities include:
- Involving Exco in Decision-Making: Ensuring that the Executive Committee is actively involved in decision-making processes.
- Capacity Building: Exploiting all available opportunities on OS platforms, including athlete development programmes.
- Gender Equity in Sports: Promoting equality and fairness in sports for all genders.
- Infrastructure Modernisation: Upgrading and developing sports infrastructure to support growth and development.
Together, we will champion policies that prioritise inclusivity, innovation, and accountability. I urge every member to support Richard Akpokavie’s candidacy.
