The Ghana Triathlon Federation has inaugurated its new executives, who will steer the affairs of the organization for the next four years. The ceremony, which took place at the Accra Sports Stadium on February 14, 2025, was supervised by the Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Majeed Bawah.
In his remarks, Mr. Bawah advised the new executives to be proactive and work tirelessly to promote the sport. “The success of every federation depends on its leadership. The ability of the leader to attract sponsorship will make the difference,” he emphasized.
Mr. Bawah also cautioned the executives against being passive, urging them to take ownership of their roles and work collaboratively to drive the growth of the sport.
The newly elected Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Triathlon Federation, Mr. Yaw Boakye Yiadom, accepted the challenge and called on all stakeholders to support the federation’s efforts to revive the sport.
“We have a four-year mandate, and the task ahead will not be easy. However, we have been doing this sport for over ten years, and we know what it takes to deliver. With the support of corporate bodies, we are confident that we can make a significant impact,” he stated.
Mr. Boakye Yiadom outlined the federation’s plans to develop the sport from the grassroots level, starting with schools and age-group competitions. He also emphasized the need to educate the general public about triathlon and its benefits.
The federation is calling on corporate bodies to support its efforts to revive the sport. “Sports is not only about football. We need corporate bodies to open their doors to us and support our efforts to grow the sport,” Mr. Boakye Yiadom appealed.
The Ghana Triathlon Federation is set to experience a resurgence, driven by the fresh leadership and vision of its newly inaugurated executives.
