The Achimota Cricket Oval in Ghana played host to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifier B from March 24-29, 2026, and it was a resounding success. Martin Odenko, ICC Africa’s Events and Operations Manager and Tournament Director, praised Ghana for its excellent hosting of the tournament.

“It has been an interesting tournament,” Odenko said. “We had some hundreds, some 50s, and very good cricket being played over the four match days.”
Tanzania and Ghana emerged victorious, qualifying for the next stage of the tournament. Odenko congratulated the teams, noting that every game played contributes to their T20 International ranking, which in turn affects funding from the ICC.

Ghana Cricket Association President, Emmanuel O. Asare, expressed his pride in the tournament’s success at the closing ceremony. “My heart is full of pride, not just for the world-class cricket, but for the remarkable spirit of brotherhood in which it was played,” he said.

Asare thanked the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, National Sports Authority, and Ghana Olympic Committee for their support, as well as the ICC and match officials for ensuring the integrity of the game.
“To our teams, whether you depart with a trophy or lessons for the future, you are lifelong friends of Ghana,” Asare said. “You have proven that African cricket is vibrant, fierce, and brimming with talent.”
The next sub-regional events are set to take place in Botswana (Qualifier A) and Nigeria (Qualifier C) later this year.
