Augustina Baidoo Wins Thrilling 2026 GTTA Sheroes Open

Augustina Baidoo emerged victorious at the 2026 GTTA Sheroes Open, defeating Eva Adom Amankwa 4-3 in a nail-biting final. Baidoo, the defending champion, came from 3-0 down to clinch the title, showcasing her determination and skill.

The championship, held at the DG Hathramani hall on February 7, attracted 31 female players from across the country. Baidoo expressed her gratitude after the win: “I feel blessed to have won back-to-back titles. I thank God and the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) for organizing this tournament.”

Baidoo credited her comeback to her focus and preparation. “I realized I had relaxed, so I had to refocus and tell myself I could do it,” she said.

Runner-up Eva Adom-Amankwaa praised the tournament as a valuable experience, saying, “This tournament has helped us identify our mistakes and work on them ahead of the World Cup Championship in London.”

GTTA Technical Director, Mr. Charles Tachie-Menson, commended the event’s success and appealed for funding to support table tennis development.

“We’ve done a good job, but we need corporate support to replicate this success and prepare for the World Championships,” he said.
