The Ghana Badminton Association, in partnership with the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), has held a workshop for media professionals at the Accra Sports Stadium media centre.

The workshop aimed to equip media practitioners with a deeper understanding of badminton, enhance their storytelling skills, and foster collaboration between the association and the media.

22 media professionals from 21 different media houses attended the interactive session, where Ghana Badminton Association president Evan Yeboah shared insights into the technicalities and rules of the game.

“We want to position badminton as an emerging headline sport in Ghana, and this workshop is a step in that direction,” Yeboah said.

The workshop covered topics such as storytelling angles, photography tips, and content creation, with participants eager to learn more about the sport.

Yeboah expressed optimism that the partnership with the media would raise badminton’s profile and make it a household name in Ghana.

“We’re providing incentives, scholarships, and career development opportunities for athletes, but we need the media to help take the sport to every corner of the country,” he said.

The event was attended by Evans Yeboah, President of Ghana Badminton Association; Evelyn Nsiah Asare, Vice President of SWAG and Executive Board Member of Ghana Badminton Association; Charles Osei Asibey, Secretary General of SWAG; Kenneth Odeng Adade, Deputy Secretary General of SWAG; Nana Adu Mankata II, President of Sports For All and the administrative secretary of Ghana Badminton Association.
