Ghana’s Glasgow 2026 Bid Gets Major Boost from TW Radio

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games campaign for Ghana has received a timely and significant boost with the announcement of a strategic partnership between the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC)/Commonwealth Sports Ghana and TW Radio 88.9 FM at a brief ceremony in Accra.

The unveiling ceremony, though brief, was heavy with the promise of future success of a collaboration which goes beyond a simple financial transaction but represents a powerful alignment of vision, commitment and a demonstration of a clear focus on the elite level of international competition.

George Kobina Edah, TW Radio’s Commercial and Marketing Manager, emphasized on the station’s deep-seated belief in the power of sports as a catalyst for national progress and youth empowerment. “This sponsorship is a tangible demonstration of our commitment, moving beyond the airwaves to directly invest in the aspirations of Ghanaian talent. The partnership is perfectly in sync with our broader goal: to create impactful sports content while supporting the very institutions that are shaping the next generation of Ghanaian champions”. Mr. Edah articulated.

Mrs. Delphina Quaye, speaking on behalf of the GOC, expressed profound gratitude, labeling the partnership as both “timely and impactful.” As the road to Glasgow 2026 demands increasing resources for training camps, logistics, and international exposure, this financial boost provides the GOC with greater confidence to execute its comprehensive preparation plan. The commitment from a prominent media house signals a renewed sense of national solidarity behind Team Ghana’s quest for excellence.

Mr. Ernest Danso, 3rd Vice President  of the GOC and Ghana’s Chef du Mission for the Glasgow Games has said “the   partnership between the Ghana Olympic Committee and TW Radio 88.9 FM, stands as a shining example of corporate Ghana actively participating in the nation’s sporting destiny. It is a fusion of media influence and athletic ambition, designed to ensure that when the Games commence, Team Ghana is not just present, but prepared to compete for gold”. He has called on corporate Ghana and state institutions to support Team Ghana for glory.
