Awal Mohammed of the Greater Accra Region has successfully defended his title at the 2025 Iron Forge National Championship, organized by Functional Sports League Ghana. The two-day event took place on December 20-21, 2025, at Karikari Brobbey Astroturf in Dansoman.

The championship featured nine top athletes selected through regional tour championships, competing in six grueling tests:

- Test 1: Bodyweight (4 rounds for time) – broad jumps, V-Ups, and Reverse Lunges
- Test 2: Skills (As many rounds as possible in 5 minutes) – Alternating Pistols, Box Step-Ups, and Kettlebells
- Test 3: Power (For Time) – Kettlebells swings and devil press
- Test 4: Strength (As many reps as possible in 4 minutes) – Strict Press, Deadlifts, and Thrusters
- Test 5: Endurance (4 rounds for time) – Burpees, shuttle runs, and singles unders
- Test 6: Mixed (For Time) – Sled push, Sandbag carry, and sandbag squats

Awal Mohammed topped the podium with 560 points, followed by Isaac Awusi (Central Region) with 460 points, and Isaac Asante (Ashanti Region) with 450 points.
Prizes, courtesy of Electroland Ghana (dealers in TCL, Nasco, Midea, Samsung appliances) and Sorry Mosquito Spray, included:
- Winner (Awal Mohammed): 43-inch Nasco TV, Gas Cooker, Sorry Mosquito Spray, 2 trophies, gold medal, and certificate
- Runner-up (Isaac Awusi): 40-inch Nasco TV, Microwave, Standing fan, Sorry Mosquito Spray, trophy, medal, and certificate
- 1st Runner-up (Isaac Asante): 32-inch Nasco TV, Steam iron, Sorry Mosquito Spray, trophy, medal, and certificate
- Other athletes: Blender, Kettle, and Sorry Mosquito Spray
Awal Mohammed said, “Fitness has always been my lifestyle… I had no doubts coming into this competition as a defending champion.”

Functional Sports League Ghana President Charles Owusu Ansah called for support to grow the fitness industry:

“We need help. We want to create a situation where people come to watch these competitions. We ask the government, Ministry of Sports, and corporate bodies to support us.”
