Ghana’s wrestling team has secured the bronze trophy in the Freestyle Wrestling category at the ongoing West African Wrestling Championship in Ouidah, Benin.

The team finished third behind Benin, the winners, and Nigeria, who took the runner-up spot. The maiden edition of the championships saw eleven countries participate, showcasing the growing interest in the sport in the region.

The participating countries were: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Guinea, and Senegal.
Ghana’s third-place finish is a testament to the efforts of the Ghana Wrestling Federation, led by President Mr. Norbert Amefu, in building a formidable brand. The team’s performance is a promising sign for the future of wrestling in Ghana.
