The National Sport For All Association Ghana (NASFAAG) in collaboration with the National Sports College, Winneba, held a three-day intensive program that was sponsored by the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), which graciously covered tuition, accommodation, and meals for all participants.
The event, which kicked off on Monday, October 6, 2025, and concluded on October 8,2025.

The program brought together 50 participants from six regions – Eastern, Western, Greater Accra, Volta, Ashanti, and Northern Region – for the Basic Level Physical Fitness Instructors Course.
The course blended rich theory sessions with engaging practical modules, led by experienced facilitators such as Prof. Emmanuel Osei Sarpong of the University of Education, Winneba, and others from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), GOC, NASFAAG, the National Sports College, and the National Road Safety Commission.

The training covered key areas such as wellness and health concepts, components of physical fitness (health-related and skill-related), methods of assessing fitness, pre-exercise evaluation, and principles of exercise prescription, among others.

Participants were taken through both classroom lectures and field applications, gaining practical insights into how to measure and improve the major components of fitness. This holistic approach ensured that every participant left with enhanced competence in exercise leadership, assessment, and program design.

According to the course coordinators, the objective was to build a strong foundation for Ghana’s next generation of certified fitness instructors by equipping them with the knowledge, discipline, and technical capacity to promote healthy living and sports participation across communities.
A special participant and facilitator at the Health and Fitness Education Programme was Mr. Kwame Amponfi Jnr., a Sport and Exercise Psychology student from Leipzig University, Germany. Participants described the experience as transformative, citing the blend of professional guidance, networking, and team spirit as life-changing.

The program’s success reaffirms the GOC’s commitment to developing grassroots sports and enhancing the capacity of fitness professionals across Ghana through education, collaboration, and empowerment.
