The Security Services Table Tennis Association (SESTTA) has inaugurated its new executives for the next four years at the Hathramani Sports Hall, Accra Sports Stadium. The swearing-in ceremony was performed by the President of the Ghana Table Tennis Association, Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu.

The newly sworn-in executives are tasked with steering the association forward over the next four years. Led by President Mr. David Carboo of the Ghana Navy, the team includes seasoned officials from various security services. The full list of executives includes:

  • President: Mr. David Carboo (Ghana Navy)
  • Vice President: Afia Oforiwaa (GRA-CEPS)
  • Secretary: Madam Debora Allotey (Ghana Immigration Service)
  • Financial Secretary: Mad Eva Adom Amankwah (Ghana Army)
  • Organizers: Madam Doreen Nertey (Ghana Immigration Service) and Mr. Francis Tweneboa (Ghana Fire Service)
  • Patron: Dr. Alex Ackon (Ghana Police Service)
  • Executive Members: Bernice Borley Borquaye (Ghana Navy), David Lamptey (Ghana Police), and Michael Trebi (Ghana Navy)

In his address, Mr. Carboo highlighted the association’s primary objective: to keep players active and in top form, especially those representing the national team.

“The main reason is to get the players active. It’s been over 2-3 years; the whole place has been dormant. And most of our players happen to find themselves in the national team. And for the past 2-3 years, there’s nothing we can do. We decided to form this team to keep them on top form so that they can move on for future tournaments.”

Dr. Alex Ackon, the association’s patron and a chief superintendent of police, emphasized the importance of senior officer support in boosting player morale.

“Sometimes when a senior officer is there to support the game, it brings a lot of morale to the men and women of the game. We know that the majority of the players in the national team are of security service and therefore if it must be done, it must be done well.”

Ghana Table Tennis Association President Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu noted that SESTTA is an integral part of the association and the Players Association. He expressed enthusiasm about the security services team’s revival and the upcoming table tennis calendar, which promises exciting competitions.

“This is a subset of the Ghana Table Tennis Association. And they are a wing of the Players Association. And they mobilized and got ready just to keep active because our table tennis calendar is going to resume.”

With the new executives in place, SESTTA is poised to make a significant impact in the table tennis fraternity, leveraging the support of the Ghana Table Tennis Association and the security services community.

The Security Services Table Tennis Association (SESTTA) league kicks off this Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the DG Hathramani Sports Hall, Accra Sports Stadium.
