Ghana’s Black Stars were denied a win in their Matchday 7 fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad on Thursday, as Celestine Ekua scored a late equalizer to secure a point for the hosts.

Jordan Ayew had given Ghana a deserved lead in the 17th minute, latching onto a cross from Mohammed Kudus to plant the ball into the back of the net. However, the Black Stars failed to add to their tally, allowing Chad to get back into the game.

Ekua’s 90th-minute strike, which deflected into the net after a mazy run through the Ghanaian defense, earned Chad their first draw of the qualifying campaign and denied Ghana a crucial win.
Despite creating chances, Ghana’s attacking trio of Inaki Williams, Antoine Semenyo, and Jordan Ayew were unable to seal the win, with Mohammed Kudus coming close in the 61st minute, only for his shot to miss the post by inches.
The draw sees the Black Stars move to 16 points after seven matches, following five wins, one draw, and one loss. Ghana will next host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8, 2025.
