Rexford Bugase from the Armed Forces has made history by winning Ghana’s first gold medal in the men’s discus throw event at the ongoing CAA Region II Senior Athletics Championship. The championship is currently underway at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

In an interview with the media after his impressive win, Bugase shared his feelings about his achievement. “I feel very good, as usual. But the last time I competed in this championship, it wasn’t good for me. So, I made up my mind to train hard and come back stronger. And, as you can see, I’ve conquered.”
When asked about his training regimen, Bugase emphasized the importance of intense preparation.
“Knowing that you have a lot of competitors and people have always been beating you, you have to increase your training time. I train about two to three times a day, which translates to a maximum of six to seven hours a day. I go in the morning and in the evening.”

When asked about his biggest ambition, Bugase’s eyes lit up.
“My biggest ambition is to represent Ghana in the Olympics. I’ve always been thinking about it, and when I’m training, my focus is always on the Olympics. I want to be the first discus thrower to represent Ghana in the Olympics. That’s what I’m training towards.”
