Ghana Olympic Committee board member, Mr. Kamal Sulley, paid a visit to the Kotoka International Airport on July 23, 2025, to wish Team Ghana well ahead of the maiden African Schools Games in Algeria.

As the athletes prepared to depart for the continent’s premier school sports event, Mr. Sulley offered words of encouragement and advice.

“You’re wearing the Ghana national team jersey, and you’re representing 36 million Ghanaians,” Mr. Sulley reminded the athletes.
“Whenever you step onto the field, remember that we’re all behind you, expecting you to win medals. Go out there and deliver! We’re sportsmen, and we accept any outcome, but aim for gold. You’re not just representing yourselves; you’re representing the entire nation.”
The African Schools Games, scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 5, 2025, in four Algerian cities – Annaba, Skikda, Constantine, and Setif.
Team Ghana will feature 12 sporting disciplines, including:

Badminton
Table Tennis
Beach Canoe
Taekwondo
Judo
Beach Volleyball

Athletics
The first batch of athletes has already departed, and the last batch will leave on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 1:30 PM on Egyptair MS 882.
Mr. Sulley’s visit served as a boost to the team’s morale, and Team Ghana is poised to make a strong impression at the Games.
