The Ghana Kendo Federation held its inaugural National Inter-Club Championships at the Hathramani Hall at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
The event marked a significant milestone for the sport in Ghana, with various clubs competing in different age categories.

The President of the Ghana Kendo Federation, Mr. Sesinam Dzakpasu, expressed his excitement about the championship, highlighting the progress made in the sport. “What we just witnessed today is actually a milestone for us, as the first inter-club national kendo championship, the first of its kind organized in Ghana,” he said.

Mr. Dzakpasu also emphasized the unique appeal of kendo, which allows participants of all ages to compete. “Kendo is a sport that cuts across all age grades,” he said. “From seven years of age to 70 years, you can participate in a competition, unlike the other martial sports.”
The Ghana Kendo Federation President was impressed with the progress made by the athletes, noting that the championship has helped identify potential talents. “We’ve been able to identify a lot of potentials today, both in the junior and senior categories,” he said. “Going forward, we would continue training, improve our refereeing, and follow up with refereeing seminars, coaching courses, and instructors’ courses.”
