The 2025 Ghana Rugby Football Union National 7s took place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the University of Ghana Rugby Football Union. The tournament featured teams from across the country, showcasing talent and skill in the sport.

In the semifinals, Oguaa Warriors defeated Accra Rugby Club 12-5, while Conquerors thrashed Northern Lions 44-0. Accra Rugby Club later secured the bronze medal by defeating Northern Lions 22-12. In the final, Conquerors dominated Oguaa Warriors, winning 43-0 to claim the championship title.

Nhyira Owusu-Ansah, a player for Conquerors, attributed their success to hard training and dedication. “We’ve been training so hard for this because we have a tournament coming up in Mauritius next month,” he said. “We gave our all because you can’t underestimate anyone. You just have to give your all in anything because you don’t know who’s watching.”
Sacut Amenga Ettego, Secretary General of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, praised the tournament, saying, “It’s been a very fantastic tournament. You’ve witnessed fantastic games from teams from all over the country… Some of the individual players were really, really fantastic.”

Ettego also acknowledged the importance of sponsorship, stating, “We couldn’t have done it without our sponsors like Kivo, Interpl, and many others. We are very grateful and hope they will continue to support us.”
Ettego emphasised the need for more sponsorship to increase participation, particularly among women’s teams. “If we had more sponsorship, we could have had more teams participating,” he said. “We look forward to more sponsorship for our future club championships.”
Rafatu Inusah, President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, highlighted the growth of rugby across regions. “We had clubs playing at the regional level for us to reach here,” she said. “We want to extend our hands all over the country and spread rugby across all 16 regions we have in Ghana.”

Inusah commended the progress of teams from various regions, including Savannah, Northern Region, Volta Region, and Central Region. “I’m very happy to see the progress of the Northern Lions,” he said. “Congratulations to the top three – Accra Rugby, Oguaa Warriors, and Conquerors.”
Inusah attributed the Conquerors’ success to consistent hard work and dedication. “It’s not coming from today’s work; it’s about training and consistency in terms of training and hard work put together by players and their coaches,” she said. “There’s nothing spiritual about this; it’s about hard work, and hard work pays.”
