Ghana Wrestling Federation Hails Minister’s Support After Morocco Success

The Ghana Wrestling Federation made a notable impact at the Africa Wrestling Championship in Casablanca, Morocco, where 38 countries across the continent gathered to showcase their skills. Led by the President of the Ghana Wrestling Federation, Mr. Norbert Amefu, the Ghanaian contingent consisted of three athletes and one coach.

The team comprised:- Mercy Akorli (61 kg)- Emmanuel Osei Sarfo (97 kg)- Fuseini Issah (125 & 130 kg)- Twumasi Addo (Coach)

Fuseini Issah brought pride to Ghana by winning bronze medals in both Greco-Roman (130 kg) and freestyle wrestling (125 kg). The team is expected to return to Accra later today.

Reflecting on the championship, President Norbert Amefu expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance. “I think it has been very successful, coming with three wrestlers and two bronze medals. This is just the beginning; we will work very hard towards the future for more medals.”

Mr. Amefu also extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, for his invaluable support. “I would like to thank the Hon. Minister for his immense contribution towards this championship. We are very grateful; we wouldn’t have been here but for the ministry’s support, which made it possible for us to take part in this continental championship.”

As they return home, they carry with them valuable experiences and lessons that will undoubtedly propel them to greater heights in future competitions.
