Ghana Olympic Committee Seeks National Chief Imam’s Blessings for Sports Development

he Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), led by its newly elected President, Richard Akpokavie Esq, paid a courtesy visit to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, at his residence in Fadama on May 2, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to introduce the new GOC leadership and seek the Chief Imam’s prayers and blessings for the next four years as they work towards transforming Ghanaian sports.

During the meeting, President Akpokavie expressed his team’s commitment to developing sports in Ghana. “We are here today to formally introduce ourselves to the Chief Imam and seek his prayers for our tenure. We believe that with his blessings, we will be able to achieve our goals and take Ghanaian sports to the next level,” he said.

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, blessed the GOC team, saying, “May God bless this endeavor and assignment. May your mandate be successful, and may you go through it with ease.” He prayed for the team’s success, wishing them a fruitful tenure.

President Akpokavie further explained the significance of the visit, stating, “We are seeking the Chief Imam’s prayers and blessings for the next four years. By the time we finish our term, we hope that sports in Ghana would have grown even stronger and more vibrant.”

The visit marked a significant step in the GOC’s efforts to engage with key stakeholders and seek support for the development of sports in Ghana. With the Chief Imam’s blessings, the GOC is poised to take Ghanaian sports to new heights.
