he maiden edition of the May Day Sweat Fest, organized by the Functional Sports League Ghana (FSLG) and powered by High Protein Recovery, took place on Wednesday, May 1, 2025, at the Karikari Brobbey Astroturf Park in Dansoman. The event aimed to promote physical activity among Ghanaian workers, encouraging them to prioritize their health and fitness.

According to Mr. Charles Owusu Ansah, President of FSLG, “May Day Sweat Fest is an initiative designed for Ghanaian workers. We want to encourage them to engage in physical activities. When you look at a typical Ghanaian worker, they are always sitting – from home to the car, office, and sometimes they can sit the whole day without standing up for lunch. So, we decided to introduce this initiative to encourage them to come out and exercise, at least for the day.”
Mr. Ansah expressed his satisfaction with the turnout, saying, “The turnout was great. We were looking out for more, but what we saw was great. We hope to build upon it. This is the first time we’re doing something like this, and seeing this turnout means it has a great future. We want to start with Greater Accra and eventually replicate it in other regions as the years go on.”
When asked about the impact of the event, Mr. Ansah noted, “We believe that this initiative will encourage Ghanaians to prioritize their health and fitness. It’s a step in the right direction, and we’re excited to see the ripple effect it will have on our communities.”
The event brought together individuals from various walks of life, all united in their pursuit of fitness and wellness. Participants praised the organizers for providing a platform to promote physical activity and healthy living.

As the Functional Sports League Ghana looks to expand the May Day Sweat Fest to other regions, it’s clear that this initiative has the potential to make a lasting impact on the health and wellbeing of Ghanaians. With its focus on promoting physical activity and fitness, the May Day Sweat Fest is an event that promises to continue growing and inspiring individuals to prioritize their health.
