In a poignant display of solidarity, the Ghana Rugby Players Welfare Association (GRPWA) and the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) paid a visit to former national team star Calestus Bosoka, who was left with a severe injury in a motor accident six years ago. The delegation, led by President Percy Adamson, Vice President Rachel Ankomah, and Executive Member Moses Agbenu, presented Bosoka with essential donations and a message of unwavering support.

Bosoka, a titan on the rugby field, had represented Ghana in both 7s and 15s formats, earning between 30 to 40 caps and collecting over 20 medals in local and international competitions. However, his career was cut short by the devastating accident, which left his left arm paralyzed. Despite the challenges he has faced, Bosoka’s passion for the sport remains strong, and he was visibly moved by the visit from his rugby family.

“Rugby gave me everything—brotherhood, pride, purpose. When the accident happened, I felt like I lost it all,” Bosoka said, his voice filled with emotion. “But today, seeing my rugby family stand with me… it reminds me that I am not forgotten. This support is more than money or supplies—it is hope. And for that, I thank the GRPWA and GRFU from the bottom of my heart.”

The GRPWA and GRFU are calling on the rugby community and fans to contribute to the Ghana Rugby Player Welfare Association, which provides medical care, financial aid, and rehabilitation for injured or retired players. Every donation, big or small, can make a significant difference in the lives of players like Bosoka.

“Rugby is not just a game; it is a family,” President Percy Adamson emphasized. “When one of us falls, we lift them up. Calestus represented Ghana with honor, and today, we honor him. But there are others like him who need our help. We urge the rugby community and all who love this sport to join us in supporting our players—past, present, and future.”

Vice President Rachel Ankomah added, “This is not charity; this is duty. These players sacrifice their bodies for the love of the game. We cannot abandon them when they need us most. Let this be a reminder: Together, we are stronger.”

As Bosoka’s story shows, the rugby community is more than just a team—it’s a family that stands together in times of need. By supporting the GRPWA, fans and sponsors can be part of a legacy that lifts up those who have dedicated their lives to the sport. “Once a rugby player, always family. Let’s stand together.”
