Mindsports Ghana Hosts Thrilling 4th Scholastic Chess Competition

The 4th Mindsports Scholastic Chess Competition came to a thrilling close at the Accra International Conference Centre on March 15, 2025. Ghana’s brightest young minds battled it out for chess supremacy, showcasing their strategic brilliance and skill.

The competition saw 108 kids participate across various age categories, with the following players emerging victorious:

  • U-8 Category:
    1. Alarcon Santiago (LFIA)
    2. André-Benjamin Ajeigbe (LFIA)
    3. Karthikeyan Shreemahathi (DPS)
      Best Lady: Owusu Shaunelle (LFIA)
  • U-10 Category:

    2. Ajeigbe Aaron Anthony (LFIA)
    3. Hamoui Lea (LFIA)
      Best Lady: Mohenu Lecia (Cornerstone)
  • U-12 Category:
    1. Harshan Pradeep (Aves)
    2. Singh Lomharsh (Roman Ridge)
    3. Madhavu Deva (Roman Ridge)
  • U-14 Category:
    1. Sachin Raja
    2. Zara Horsham (Al Rayan)
    3. Sean Kermah (GIS)
  • U-16 Category:
    1. Emmanuel Garbrah (PRESEC)
    2. Herbert Okpoti (PRESEC)
    3. David Darko (PRESEC)
  • U-20 Category:

    3. Azumah Jerrings (PRESEC)

The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, the newly appointed Director General of the National Sports Authority. Mr. Ankrah praised the organizers for promoting chess as a vital part of Ghana’s sports development.

“Mindsports Ghana has done an excellent job in promoting chess among our youth,” said Mr. Ankrah. “I am impressed by the talent and dedication displayed by these young players, and I look forward to seeing them represent Ghana in international competitions.”

Mindsports Ghana congratulates all winners and participants on their outstanding performances. The organizers extend their heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders, including Nana Adu Mankata, President of Sports for All Association, Mr. Shabaan Mohammed, Secretary General of the Ghana Cycling Association, technical staff, volunteers, teachers, parents, media personnel, and sponsors for their invaluable support and contributions to the success of the event.
