WhitRay Junior Open Tennis Tournament Crowns New Champions

The 3rd edition of the WhitRay Junior Open tennis tournament concluded successfully on March 9, 2025, at the National Tennis Court in Accra. The four-day event, which began on March 6, brought together nearly 100 players across eight categories, including boys and girls under 10, 12, 14, and 16.

Orimoloye Abiodun, CEO of ATL Global Transport and Logistics, expressed his excitement about the tournament’s success, praising the “fantastic” level of performance and noting that Ghana’s tennis future looks bright. He emphasized the need for support, urging individuals and parents to come on board and provide more opportunities for these young players.

The tournament implemented strict measures to prevent age cheating, utilizing the UTR system, which resulted in a lower turnout than expected. However, Abiodun remains proud of their efforts, stating that they achieved 95% of their goals.

The winners of the tournament shared their experiences, with Jefter Dowuona, the boys under 14 winner, feeling relieved and happy despite the pressure. Whitney Orimoloye, the girls under 12 runner-up, expressed her pride in her performance, attributing her success to hard work and daily training. Her goal is now set on winning first place in future competitions.
