Deputy Commissioner of Police Lydia Donkor has been appointed to lead an investigation into the violent incidents that occurred during the Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko on February 2, 2025. The match, which took place at the Nana Kronamansah Park in Nsoatre, was marred by acts of hooliganism that resulted in the tragic death of a fan, multiple injuries, and significant property damage.

DCOP Donkor, who heads the Security Committee, will collaborate with the FA Prosecutor to uncover the circumstances surrounding the violence. The investigation aims to identify those responsible and take decisive action against them. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has condemned the incident and assured the public of its commitment to conducting an exhaustive investigation.

The GFA has also banned Nsoatreman FC from using their home venue, Nana Kronamansah Park, indefinitely, citing Article 14(2) of the Premier League Regulations. The association has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards violence, intimidation, and hooliganism in Ghana football.

The Ghana Police Service has been engaged to conduct a full-scale investigation into the incident, and the public is urged to assist with any relevant information to aid the investigation.
