Ghana Olympic Committee Rejects Unconstitutional Auditor Appointment

The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) took a bold stance at its annual Congress on January 25, rejecting the executive board’s unconstitutional appointment of an auditor. The Congress, held at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey stadium, also dismissed the account statements presented by the executive board.

According to GOC members, the auditor’s appointment is the prerogative of the Congress, as stated in Article 5, Clause 5, i of the GOC’s constitution. The executive board’s actions were deemed a clear violation of this provision ¹.

In response to this development, the Congress has scheduled an extraordinary meeting via Zoom to appoint a new auditor and approve the statement of account and budget for 2025. This move demonstrates the GOC’s commitment to upholding its constitutional principles and ensuring transparency in its financial dealings.

The actions of the GOC align with global standards in sports governance, highlighting the significance of accountability and compliance with established protocols.
