In a thrilling Spanish Super Cup final, Barcelona staged a stunning comeback to defeat Real Madrid 5-2 in Saudi Arabia.
Kylian Mbappe gave Real Madrid an early lead with a spectacular solo goal, but Barcelona quickly turned the tables. Lamine Yamal equalized in the 22nd minute, and Robert Lewandowski put Barca ahead from the penalty spot after Gavi was fouled.
Raphinha then scored twice, including a bullet header, and Alex Balde added a fourth goal in first-half stoppage time. Raphinha scored his second goal of the game just after halftime to make it 5-1.
However, the match took a dramatic turn when goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was sent off for a foul on Mbappe outside the box. Rodrygo scored from the resulting free-kick, but it was too little, too late for Real Madrid.
Barcelona’s victory marked their 15th Spanish Super Cup title and their second dominant win over Real Madrid under manager Hansi Flick.
