PruRide 2024: Nigerian Cyclists Shine, Claim Top Spots in Male and Female Divisions

Nigerians dominate the 5th edition of PruRide 2024. The competition took place on September 1st at the Black Stars Square, featuring four categories: Elite Male and Female, and Amateur Male and Female. The event was fun but highly competitive in all categories. Cyclists from Nigeria dominated the Elite competition in both male and female categories, showcasing endurance and fight throughout the event.

The men’s Elite division covered 100 kilometers, with over 100 cyclists competing. It was highly competitive from the first lap to the last. Nigerian John Gabriel emerged as the winner.

Here are the top ten finishers and their prizes:

1st Runner-up – Michael Naada (Nigeria): GH¢ 8,000.00, trophy, medal, and certificate2nd Runner-up – Osei Dickson (Ghana): GH¢ 5,000.00, trophy, medal, and certificate

4th position – Prince Kudofia: GH¢ 1,000.00 and certificate

5th position – Michael Browson: GH¢ 1,000.00 and certificate

6th position – D.A Awuku: GH¢ 1,000.00 and certificate

7th position – Prosper Agbo: GH¢ 1,000.00 and certificate

8th position – Michael Agbogbah: GH¢ 1,000.00 and certificate

9th position – Abdul Malik Yussif: medal and certificate

10th position – Francis Amu: GH¢ 1,000.00, medal, and certificate

    The oldest cyclist, Christian Adeibo, received a trophy and GH¢ 1,500.00 for his effort. The youngest cyclist, Philip Ayensu, received GH¢ 1,500.00, a certificate, and a trophy for his effort.

    The top ten cycling clubs received a certificate and GH¢ 1,000.00. The clubs’ placings were:

    6. Team Sky
    7. Gladiators
    8. Royal Cyclist

    In the female category, the cyclists covered 60 kilometers, and the podium finishers were all from Nigeria. Treasuoe Coason emerged as the winner.

    Fifth position – Nomessi Abra: GH¢ 700.00 and certificate

    Sixth position – Erica Sedzro: GH¢ 700.00 and certificate

    Seventh position – Patient Otuodung (Nigeria): GH¢ 700.00 and certificate

    Eighth position – Rebecca Agana: GH¢ 700.00 and certificate

    Ninth position – Hellen Anim: GH¢ 700.00 and certificate

      Patient Otuodung from Nigeria emerged as the oldest female cyclist, and Mary Sunday from Nigeria emerged as the youngest. They both received GH¢ 1,000.00, a trophy, and a medal.

      The amateur cyclists covered 20 kilometers, recording the highest participation in the 5th edition of PruRide, with over 300 cycling enthusiasts competing for fun and glory. The top ten finishers were:

      2nd – Boga Aleon (2nd): GH¢ 1,500.00, trophy, medal, and certificate

      3rd – Derrick Obeng (3rd): GH¢ 1,000.00, trophy, medal, and certificate

      4th – Godfred Kwame Tompoo: GH¢ 500.00 and certificate

      5th – Richmond Sukah: GH¢ 500.00 and certificate

      6th – Yaw Atinoto: GH¢ 500.00 and certificate

      7th – Abdul Razak Tetteh: GH¢ 500.00 and certificate

      8th – Seth Kommey: GH¢ 500.00 and certificate

      9th – Isaiah Badu: GH¢ 500.00 and certificate

      10th – Aaron Dimson: GH¢ 500.00 and certificate

      Femke Vandev Bos won the female amateur race and was awarded a cash prize of GH¢ 2,000.00, a trophy, and a certificate. Abigail Tetteh came second and won GH¢ 1,500.00, a trophy, and a certificate for herself. Ama Adade placed third and was awarded GH¢ 1,000.00, a trophy, and a certificate.

      All cyclists who took part in the 2024 PruRide, from both amateur and elite categories, were decorated with a gold medal for making the 5th edition a successful one
