The Royal Ladies of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) successfully defended their hockey title after a stellar performance in the 2024 league season, which concluded on Saturday, August 31, at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch.
The reigning African Cup for Club Champions dominated the season, playing 10 matches, winning 8, and drawing 2, to finish with 26 points.
In a post-match interview, team captain Elizabeth Opoku expressed her gratitude, saying, “We are grateful to the Almighty God, our technical team, and our manager for their immense support in helping us defend our title.”
Reflecting on their journey, Elizabeth added, “We feel proud of ourselves because it wasn’t easy in the first round, but here we are as champions, and the feeling is great.”
She also acknowledged the competition from other teams in the women’s division, stating, “The rest of the teams also did well because they gave us a run for our money.”
Looking ahead to future challenges, Captain Opoku outlined their goals for the African stage: “Our agenda for Africa is to conquer and bring the trophy back to Ghana. We know our African opponents have targeted us, but with GRA and Ghana behind us, we will go all out and make them proud.”
