DOP Elizabeth Safoa King’s 70th Birthday Marked with Citation and Praise

The Men and Women Hockey Teams of the Ghana Prisons Service have honoured DOP (RTD) Elizabeth Safoa King for her immense contribution to sports in Ghana and beyond.

The leadership of the teams presented a citation to honour and celebrate her on her 70th irthday. The retired high-ranking officer of the Ghana Prisons Service pioneered the formation of hockey teams and ensured their participation in the second edition of the SESSA Games.

Through her practical approach to leadership and teamwork, she mobilised young officers to form the Reformers Hockey Team, which won the Service Silver in the games.

The officer, a sports administrator, extended her selfless service to the Ghana Hockey Association (GHA)  and various national teams.

At GHA, she was elected treasurer,  a position she held for two terms. Due to her leadership qualities, she was elevated to the office of Vice President. She is currently serving her second term.

Concurrently, she serves on the Africa Hockey Federation (AfHF) and International Hockey Federation (FIH) boards.

In addition, she is the President of the Women’s Commission, under the auspices of the Ghana Olympic Committee.

Her feats are countless and immeasurable. Even in retirement, she still contributes to the development of the sport.

The hockey fraternity is grateful for her selfless service, dedication, and commitment and wishes her the very best in life.
