PruRide 2024: Cyclists to Battle for Glory and Cash Prizes

The 5th edition of the PruRide comes on September 1, 2024, at the Black Stars Square in Accra. Cyclists are expected to check in at 6:00 am, and the competition starts exactly at 7:00 am.

Elites or professional cyclists who have a license from the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) or club membership are eligible to participate in the upcoming event. The elites will have to cover 100 kilometres.

The amateur event is open to all cyclists who are enthusiasts or lovers of the sport, and they will cover 20 kilometres on the day.

Professional cyclists are to register with their clubs, while amateurs are to register for free on this short code, *778*001#, or prudential.com.gh. Registration closes on Sunday, August 25, 2024.

Cash prizes for the winners in the 5th edition of the PruRide are as follows:

The winner for the male professionals who will cover the 100 kilometres will receive GH¢ 15,000.00, while the runner-up will receive GH¢ 8,000.00. The first runner-up will also receive GH¢ 5,000.00, and cyclists who place in the positions of 4th to 10th will all get GH¢ 1,000.00. The oldest cyclist among the male professionals will receive GH¢ 1,500, while the youngest cyclist will also receive GH¢ 1,500.00.

The female professionals will also cover 75 kilometres on the day, and the winners are as follows:

The winner on the day will receive GH¢ 10,000.00, the second-place cyclist will get GH¢ 5,000.00, and the third-place cyclist will also get GH¢ 3,000.00. Cyclists who will place between the 4th and 10th positions will all get GH¢ 700.00. The oldest will get GH¢ 1,000.00, and the youngest will also get GH¢ 1,000.00.

The top three performing clubs on the day will all be rewarded with GH¢ 1,000.00.

The winners will also get trophies and certificates, and medals will be presented to all participants.

The amateur riders who will cover the 20 kilometres are not left out; they will also be receiving an enticing cash prize after the event.

The male winner will be rewarded with an amount of GH¢ 3,000.00, a trophy, and a certificate. The runner-up will get GH¢ 2,000.00, and the 1st runner-up will get GH¢ 1000.00. 4th to 10th position cyclists will all get GH¢ 500.00 each.

The female winner will pocket GH¢ 2,000.00, a trophy, and a certificate; the second position will get GH¢ 1,500.00; and the third position will get GH¢ 1000.00. 

Both male and female amateur riders will all get GH¢ 500.00. The male and female youngest amateurs will also get GH¢ 500.00. Persons living with disabilities will get GH¢ 500.00. Medals will be presented to all cyclists who participated.
