Carlos Alcaraz is the 2024 Wimbledon champion! He wins on Centre Court vs Novak Djokovic for the second year in succession, but this time in dominant straight-sets fashion.

A wonderful drop shot in the tiebreak gave the Spaniard three more championship points (after he failed to take three earlier in the set), and he takes the first as Djokovic returns into the net.

What a remarkable player the 21-year-old is! He’s climbed up to his box! Brilliant.

Djokovic: My level in the first two sets wasn’t up to par

Djokovic speaking courtside following defeat…

“He was definitely very hot today! Obviously not the result I wanted, and in the first couple of sets the level of tennis wasn’t up to par from my side.

“But credit to Carlos for really playing amazing tennis, complete tennis from the back of the court.

“I tried to push him, saved three match points, but it wasn’t meant to be, he was an absolutely deserved winner today, huge congratulations.

“I have to say I’m very satisfied. Wimbledon has always been a childhood dream of mine, and every time I step onto this court I feel like it’s the first time. I’m a child living my childhood dream once again.”
