The founder and President of the Ghana Fencing Association, Mr. Mohammed Mahadi, who also serves as the 3rd Vice President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), launched his regional fencing seminar tour in the Volta region at Tanyigbe Senior High School on June 25th and 26th, 2024. This initiative, part of the 2024 Olympic Day Celebrations, was themed “Giving Back to Society the Value of Fencing Sports.

“The seminar aimed to enhance the skills of fencers across Ghana and introduce the sport to new institutions, including national sport masters, such as heads of Inter-school competitions. These regional trainings are pivotal for scouting new cadet and junior team members to succeed the current senior athletes, who will replace the senior national team ahead of the 2025 Cadet Junior Africa Championships in Angola and the 2026 Youth Olympic African Cadet Games.

Over 50 fencers participated in the seminar, which concluded on June 26, 2024. Mr. Mahadi emphasized that the tour would continue across the remaining 15 regions of Ghana to build strong relationships with fencers and complete the Federation’s database.

The seminar concluded with a donation of fencing equipment to the host institution, ensuring the continuity of training and promising further skills development and training support.
