The GARFA Division 2 Middle League has been officially launched for the 2023/2024 football season

The Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) on Thursday, June 13, 2024, launched the GARFA Division 2 Middle League at the Sports Hall of the Trust Sports Emporium.

The 2023/24 GARFA league saw 86 clubs divided into six zones, and the teams that won their respective zones qualified for the GARFA Division 2 Middle League.

The following teams won their respective zones and have qualified for the upcoming Middle League, slated for June 22nd – July 7th, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

True Demo qualified from Zone 1, Danbort FC won Zone 2, Immigration won Zone 3, while Kotoku Shining Stars won Zone 4. New Town Youth emerged as winners in Zone 5, and Emmanuel City were crowned champions in Zone 6.

The draw was conducted, and the six teams were divided into two groups, Group A and Group B.

Group A consists of the winners of zones 2, 3, and 6: Danbort FC, Immigration, and Emmanuel City, respectively.

Group B also consists of the champions of zones 1, 4, and 5: True Demo, Kotoku Shining Stars, and New Town Youth, respectively.

The opening fixture on June 22nd, 2024, will be Danbort FC vs. Immigration from Group A, kicking off at 9:00 AM. Emmanuel City will sit out the first match. The second game of the day will feature New Town Youth vs. Kotoku Shining Stars FC from Group B, while True Demo will also stand by.

The week 2 fixtures will take place on June 26th, while the week 3 fixtures will take place on July 2nd. The winners of both groups will meet in the final on July 7th, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

All six teams were presented with two sets of bibs and ten footballs each to use for the warm-up in the GARFA Division 2 Middle League.

The trophy for the competition was unveiled, allowing the six teams to get a glimpse and feel of it.

45 coaches from Greater Accra received a CAF License “D” certificate after completing the theory and practical sections and passing the qualification marks.

The chairman of the Greater Accra Football Association, Samuel Aboabire (Kataar), congratulated the coaches and urged them to make good use of the knowledge they had learned. He also assured them that if any of the coaches were finding it difficult to secure a coaching position, they could contact his office for assistance, as he was always ready to help.

“Don’t just go and put your certificate under your pillow. Please go and practice; practice makes perfect. Those of you who want to coach a club, please call me, my vice, or better still, come to my office and we will find a team for you to coach.”

Players, referees, and coaches who excelled between March, April and May were also recognized for their outstanding performances during that period.
