The 2023/24 Ghana Premier League will come to an end on Sunday, June 16th, 2024 at all centres.
There are five teams hoping to survive relegation after ups and downs throughout the season. These teams include some of the big names in Ghana Football, such as Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics, Dreams FC, Heart of Lions, and Karela United.
Dreams FC hope to survive in the league, and their fate may be determined on Wednesday when they face already relegated Real Tamale United in their outstanding game at the Theatre of Dreams, Dawu. Winning this game would officially secure their safety from relegation.
Karela United’s current total of 43 points means they must beat Medeama SC in Tarkwa to avoid relegation.
Hearts of Oak also face a must-win game at one of the toughest venues in Ghana Football, namely Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, against Bechem United on Sunday, June 16th. A win would secure their safety and avoid relegation.
Accra Great Olympics face the most difficult situation among the relegation-threatened teams. Great Olympics will host already relegated RTU at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday. They must win and hope Hearts of Oak draw or lose their game against Bechem United, or Karela United loses to Medeama SC.
Hearts of Lions must at least draw against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park in Berekum to ensure their participation in the 2024/25 season.
Karela United are 13th on the league table with 43 points from 33 matches, Hearts of Oak are 14th on the league table with 42 points from 33 matches, Dreams FC has 42 points and is placed 15th on the table from 32 matches, Great Olympics has 41 points from 33 matches and is placed 16th on the table
