Former Hearts of Oak player and coach, Yaw Preko, is very hopeful that his former employer, Hearts of Oak, will not be relegated despite their awful season. However, he cautioned them to be very careful.
Speaking to Jeffries Kwabena Sintim-Koree on Happy FM’s Wamputu Sports.
“He said, ‘It’s very difficult, but I believe they have to do their homework very well because if Karela United plays at 3:00 PM and wins their game, it’s going to be very difficult. Any side that loses on that day will be relegated, and if Karela draws, then Olympics and Hearts of Oak will get some relief.”
Yaw Preko, having coached both Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics, feels sad that the two teams he has so much affection for are now battling for survival.
“It’s a bit unfortunate that the two teams I have a very tight relationship with are fighting for a spot. When it happens like this and you come out of it, you do things right. I will be neutral on Sunday. As a former professional player and now a professional coach, I am neutral.”
Hearts of Oak lies on the 13th position with 41 points from 32 games, scoring 32 goals and conceding 29, while Great Olympics lies on the 15th position with 40 points from 32 games, scoring 24 goals and conceding 27.
The much-anticipated game comes off on Sunday at 6:00 PM at the Accra Sports Stadium.
