Ghana Athletics named strong team for the upcoming CAA Region II Senior Athletics Championship in Accra

The Ghana Athletics Association has released a list of thirty athletes to represent Team Ghana in the upcoming Confederation of Africa Athletics (CAA) Region II Senior Athletics Championship, slated to be hosted by Ghana at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. The team consists of fourteen female and sixteen male athletes

The female team, led by Hor Halutie, Mary Boakye, Janet Mensah, and Nasera Efua Quansah, will compete in both the 100m and 4x100m events. Juliana Sakat Lariba will compete in the women’s 5000m, and other promising athletes will also participate.

The male team consists of African Games gold medalist Evans Cadman Yeboah, who will compete in the men’s High Jump. Ghana’s long-distance record holder, William Amponsah, who won silver at the 13th African Games and has been in impressive form, is also part of the team and will try to showcase his fine form to secure Olympic qualification. Sarfo Ansah will compete in the men’s 100m and 4x100m, while Edwin Gadayi will compete in the 200m and 4x100m.

The list below is the full squad and their category for CAA II Seniors championship.

The 2024 CAA Region II starts from 4th to 5th June 2024, and it will also serve as a qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
