The Ghana Black Bombers team went to Bangkok, Thailand, seeking the final Paris 2024 Olympic qualification. The team left the shores of Ghana with seven boxers, six male and one female. It was left with two boxers, Theophilus Kpakpo Allotey and Dr. Ornella Sathoud, in the Round of 16, meaning each of them needed two wins to qualify. Unfortunately, both failed to sail through.

Theophilus Kpakpo Allotey lost in a split 2-3 decision against Chinese opponent Chuang Liu in the men’s Flyweight -51kg which ended his Olympic Games dream.

The only hope left for the Black Bombers and Team Ghana was the only female boxer on the team, Ornella Sathoud, who was scheduled to fight Shierleidis Orozco of Colombia. The bout turned into an easy battle for the Colombian boxer, Shierleidis Orozco, who won by a 5-0 unanimous point decision in the women’s middleweight -75kg category. This means that there will be no Ghanaian boxer at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The following are the boxers the Black Bombers paraded for the qualification in Bangkok, Thailand:

1.Theophilus Kpakpoe Allotey (Flyweight -51kg)
2.Amadu Mohammed(Featherweigt – 57Kg)
3.Joseph Commey(Featherweight -63.5Kg)
4.Henry Malm(Light Middleweight -71Kg)
5.Jonathan Tetteh(Heavyweight -92Kg)
