“I would have retired if I were Dede Ayew” – Agyemang Badu

Former Black Stars player, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, says he would have retired from the Ghana National Team, the Black Stars, if he were Dede Ayew, after being snubbed in the recent Otto Addo’s double-header call-up against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR) in June.

Speaking to Jeffries Kwabena Sintim-Koree on Happy FM’s Wamputu show, Agyemang Badu stated, “To me, as a good friend, somebody I have worked with for about 12 years, I have a solid relationship with him, his brother, father, and his family. If it were to be me, I would thank the nation, but he is different; he has a family and has his own thoughts. He has done a yeoman’s job. I want him to leave like a hero; I don’t want him to leave like someone with an unbalanced mind”.

He again stated that Andre Ayew is a good person and must be treated very well. “He is a very nice person who needs to be treated well and leave with good faith. If it were me,” he reiterated, “I wouldn’t decide for him, but I would tell him, “Brother, you have 124 caps, 8 AFCON, 3 World Cups, Under 20; I give you that respect”.

Andre Dede Ayew is Ghana’s most capped player with 124 appearance and has scored 24 goals in the process.
